Michelle Black
Michelle Black has been with Carstens, Black & Minteer since 2008. She received her Juris Doctorate from UCLA School of Law in May 2008 after a course of study that emphasized environmental and administrative law. While at UCLA, Michelle served as an editor-in-chief of the UCLA Journal of Environmental Law and Policy, a board member of the UCLA Environmental Law Society, and conducted faculty-directed research on the role of the California judiciary in CEQA enforcement.
Michelle also gained valuable experience with both government agencies and nonprofits during summer clerkships with United States Department of Justice's Environmental Enforcement Section and San Diego Coastkeeper. She also spent a semester with the Frank G. Wells Environmental Law and Policy Clinic, where she collaborated with Endangered Habitats League. Prior to attending law school, Michelle earned a B.A. in biology and government from Claremont McKenna College and worked for the California Integrated Waste Management Board in plastics recycling technology.
